Adwoa Safo Clarifies Father's Estate: Valid Will Exists, Not Inheritance Dispute

Will Settles Estate, Says Adwoa Safo

Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Sarah Adwoa Safo has firmly stated that her late father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo, left behind a legally valid will governing his estate. In a statement issued Friday, she rejected widespread suggestions that the ongoing Kristo Asafo Mission dispute stems from family disagreements over inheritance or wealth distribution.

Ms Safo emphasised that her father made clear arrangements before his death regarding both church leadership and the administration of his estate. "My dad did not die intestate. He left a valid Will, which I believe sets out definitive provisions for the administration of his estate, including his properties and inheritance," she stated. She stressed that the existence of the will should put to rest claims of an inheritance battle within the family.

Constitutional Changes, Not Property Control

According to Ms Safo, the true source of disagreement concerns constitutional amendments introduced by Apostle Kwadwo Safo in 2024, which removed Israel Kwadwo Safo from church leadership and later installed her as head of the Kantanka family in February 2025. She stated that her father personally instructed her before his death to ensure these constitutional changes were implemented. "On his death bed, my dad instructed me to ensure that this provision was expressly upheld, and I consider it my duty and responsibility to honour that directive as his first child," she said.

Ms Safo rejected suggestions that she seeks to lead the Kristo Asafo Church or control its assets for personal gain. She emphasised that she deliberately built her own career long before her father's passing and has never pursued his wealth or properties. "The matter at hand is neither about any aspiration on my part to lead the Kristo Asafo Church, nor does it concern a dispute over church property or inheritance," she clarified.

The former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection urged the public to stop interpreting the disagreements as a power struggle, calling instead for respect for her late father's final wishes and adherence to legal processes governing his estate.
