University of Ghana extends admissions deadline for postgraduate communication and information studies programmes

The University of Ghana has extended its admissions deadline for selected postgraduate programmes in communications and information studies, giving prospective students a second chance to apply. The new deadline of September 18 provides relief for applicants who may have missed the initial closing date, according to Dr Aurelia Ayisi, a lecturer in the Department of Communications Studies at UG.

Speaking on JoyFM's Super Morning Show, Dr Ayisi highlighted that the extension is an opportunity for individuals who believe they have already missed their chance to pursue postgraduate studies at one of Ghana's premier universities. She urged interested candidates to act quickly and submit their applications before the extended deadline passes.

What programmes are available

The extension covers opportunities across two departments within the School of Information and Communication Studies. The Department of Information Studies is welcoming applications for its Master's in Information Studies, MPhil in Information Studies and PhD in Information Studies. Recognising the needs of working professionals and students with other commitments, the Master's programme is available in both regular full-time and sandwich formats, allowing flexibility in how students pursue their qualification.

The Department of Communication Studies is similarly offering multiple pathways for postgraduate study: the MA in Communication Studies, MA in Strategic Communication, MPhil in Communication Studies and PhD in Communication Studies. The MA in Strategic Communication stands out for its dual delivery model, with options for both regular and flexible evening and weekend classes. This flexibility has proven particularly popular with students balancing work and study obligations.
