June 29 Floods: 34 Dead, Over 91,000 Displaced Across Ghana — NADMO
The death toll from the devastating floods that struck Ghana on 29th June remains at 34, with over 91,046 people displaced across the country, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has confirmed.
The Director of Inspectorate at NADMO disclosed the figures, painting a grim picture of the scale of destruction left in the wake of the flooding, which affected communities in multiple regions nationwide.
Thousands of families have been forced to abandon their homes, with many seeking refuge in temporary shelters and with relatives. Authorities are working to assess the full extent of damage to property and infrastructure as relief efforts continue across affected areas.
NADMO has urged residents in flood-prone communities to remain vigilant, particularly as Ghana's rainy season continues to pose risks of further downpours. The organisation is coordinating with regional offices and partner agencies to ensure displaced persons receive food, clean water, and other essential supplies.
The June 29 floods have once again highlighted the vulnerability of many Ghanaian communities to seasonal flooding, renewing calls for sustained investment in drainage infrastructure and early warning systems to reduce the impact of such disasters in the future.
