GES dismisses viral claims of WASSCE papers destroyed by floods

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has firmly rejected circulating claims on social media that floodwaters destroyed West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) papers during recent heavy rains.

A viral statement alleged that downpours on 29 June swept away examination materials, leaving some papers unavailable for ongoing tests. The false post further claimed GES would require affected candidates to resit their exams and would shortly announce a revised timetable.

GES has branded the statement entirely fabricated and called on Ghanaians to disregard it completely. The Service emphasised the importance of verifying claims before sharing them online, particularly those affecting students and parents during the critical examination period.

Stakeholders—including students, parents and the general public—have been urged to seek updates only through official GES communication channels and platforms. This move comes as misinformation continues to spread rapidly across social media, potentially causing unnecessary panic among examination candidates.
