Come Home Safely, Akwatia MP Tells Ghanaians in South Africa
Akwatia Member of Parliament Bediako Baidoo has appealed to Ghanaians living in South Africa to consider returning home, emphasising that personal safety should be a top priority.
Speaking on the repatriation efforts, Mr. Baidoo highlighted that whilst the Government of Ghana has been supporting citizens who wish to return, the process remains entirely voluntary. Authorities cannot mandate Ghanaians to leave South Africa, he noted, but encouraged those facing difficult circumstances to take advantage of available support.
"If you have life, you have everything," the MP stressed, underscoring the importance of physical wellbeing over other considerations.
The appeal comes amid ongoing security concerns affecting some Ghanaians in the southern African nation. The government's repatriation initiative aims to assist citizens who wish to relocate back to Ghana, though uptake has varied.
