Central Region roads project hits 73% completion mark under Big Push Programme
The Government's Big Push Programme has made substantial progress on a major road rehabilitation initiative in the Central Region, with works across the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District now 73 per cent complete, the Ministry of Roads and Highways confirmed this week.
The ambitious project encompasses 81.3 kilometres of roads serving 13 towns and communities throughout the district. Contractor Messrs Mo & Mo Company Ltd began construction in December 2025 and is targeting completion by November 2027. The rehabilitation effort is structured across three distinct enclaves to optimise project delivery and local impact.
Project scope by enclave:
- Essiam Enclave (20.5km): Roads linking Essiam–Bisease, Essiam Township and Denkyira
- Ajumako Enclave (26.8km): Mando–Kromaim, Assasan–Essaman, Abrofoa–Ampia–Attakrom, Assasan and Ajumako routes
- Abaasa Enclave (34km): Nsawadze–Onyaadze, Abaasa–Nkodwo, Abaasa Township, Abaasa–Enyamaim and Enyamaim roads
Officials expect the improved road network to strengthen connectivity and unlock economic potential across the district by facilitating trade, reducing transport costs and improving access to markets and services for residents.
