Black Queens Squad Announcement: Ghana's 27-Player contingent Named for WAFCON 2026

Ghana Reveals WAFCON Squad

The Black Queens have announced a 27-player provisional squad for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, under the leadership of head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren. The squad balances experienced internationals with emerging young talent, aiming to strengthen Ghana's challenge in the continental tournament.

Key Players Named

Captain Portia Boakye leads a squad featuring several seasoned performers, including Grace Asantewaa, Cynthia Konlan, Alice Kusi, Evelyn Badu, Jennifer Cudjoe, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah and Princella Adubea. The selection also reflects domestic strength, with home-based players such as Osman Huzeima of Jonina Ladies and Ajegipina Zakaria of Ampem Darkoa Ladies included in the provisional list.

Group Stage Challenge Ahead

Ghana has been drawn in Group D alongside Cape Verde, Cameroon and Mali. The Black Queens will kick off their campaign against Cape Verde on 29 July, face Cameroon on 2 August, and conclude group play against Mali on 6 August. All three matches will be held at Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca, with the team set to resume formal training preparations ahead of the tournament opening.
