Telecel M'ahitti Promo delivers over GH¢2m to Ghanaians; teacher and entrepreneur among latest winners
Telecel's M'ahitti Promo continues to transform lives across Ghana, with over GH¢2 million distributed to winners since its launch in June this year. The promotion, regulated by the National Lottery Authority on the Caritas platform, offers customers multiple chances to win through monthly, weekly and daily prizes with no entry cost.
Two recent winners exemplify the real impact the programme is having on ordinary Ghanaians. Anita Addo, a Kumasi-based entrepreneur and mother of four, won GH¢20,000 as a weekly prize winner. Despite being a Telecel customer for just over a year, she initially thought the winning notification was a scam and visited a local Telecel office to verify. The timing of her win proved crucial, as her eldest child has just gained university admission whilst her other children require school fees and supplies for the new academic year. "This is an answer to my prayers. I had no idea how I was going to pay the fees and provide all their other school necessities," Addo said, urging others to participate in Telecel's genuine promotions.
In the Oti Region, Leslie Johnson Adams, a teacher based in Jasikan with a decade-long relationship with Telecel, also received GH¢20,000 in winnings. Adams had been saving towards installing a solar power system at his home on the outskirts of Jasikan—a project the prize now makes feasible. Like many winners, he initially struggled to believe his fortune. "It felt as though I was dreaming because I have been praying for funds to install a solar power system in my home," he explained.
Prize distribution and remaining opportunities
Since launching four months ago, the M'ahitti Promo has created a significant number of winners across Ghana. One customer has already claimed the GH¢1 million monthly grand prize, with two more monthly winners still to be announced. To date, more than 30 customers have won the weekly GH¢20,000 prize, whilst over 6,000 customers have each won the daily GH¢100 consolation prize.
With approximately four weeks remaining in the promotion, customers can participate at no cost by opting in through the Telecel Play app or by dialling *500#. Alex Kwapong, Executive Head for the Eastern, Oti and Volta Regions, expressed satisfaction with the programme's impact. "Seeing the Telecel M'ahitti Promo change lives every week brings us immense joy. This is the value we aim to deliver to our customers through the promotion. We still have two monthly GH¢1 million prizes to award, along with many more weekly and daily prizes."
Why it matters for Ghana
The M'ahitti Promo reflects a growing trend of telecommunications companies using customer loyalty programmes to provide direct financial relief to Ghanaians. For many participants, these prizes represent meaningful support at critical moments—school fees, medical emergencies, home improvements or business investments. The programme's accessibility (free to enter via USSD or app) ensures it reaches customers across urban and rural areas, including those with limited digital literacy. As Ghana's economic pressures continue, such initiatives provide tangible assistance whilst building customer loyalty. The involvement of the National Lottery Authority ensures regulatory oversight and legitimacy, addressing common concerns about scams that deter many Ghanaians from participating in promotional lotteries.
