GMet Issues Fresh Flood Warning as Southern Ghana Braces for More Rain
The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a fresh warning to residents across southern Ghana, cautioning that more rainfall is expected to continue into the afternoon hours, compounding an already difficult situation on the ground.
The warning comes as emergency and rescue teams remain deployed across several communities that were inundated by heavy downpours earlier in the day. Homes, roads and public spaces in affected areas have been left submerged, with residents urged to exercise extreme caution.
GMet has advised that people in low-lying and flood-prone areas take immediate precautions, including avoiding waterlogged roads and staying away from swollen drains and rivers, which can rise rapidly with additional rainfall.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely as the adverse weather persists. Residents are encouraged to follow official updates from GMet and local disaster management agencies for the latest guidance on safety measures.
