Presidency Urges Ghanaians to Stay Alert as Flood Risks Persist
The Office of the Presidency has issued a strong advisory urging all Ghanaians to exercise extreme caution as flood conditions continue to pose a serious threat to lives and property in various parts of the country.
In an official statement, the Presidency directed that anyone currently situated in a safe location should remain indoors and avoid unnecessary movement that could put them in harm's way. Authorities stressed that staying put in a secure environment remains one of the most effective ways to protect oneself during periods of heavy flooding.
Residents were further urged to pay close attention to all safety guidelines being issued by relevant government agencies and emergency response bodies, and to act swiftly on any evacuation orders should they be given.
Flooding has in recent years caused widespread destruction across Ghana, particularly in low-lying communities in Accra and in the northern regions, where heavy seasonal rains regularly overwhelm drainage systems and displace thousands of families.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and have appealed to the public to report any emerging flood incidents to the appropriate agencies so that assistance can be deployed promptly.
