Bawumia Urges Authorities to Ramp Up Flood Relief Efforts Across Ghana
Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has appealed to emergency services and government institutions to step up their response to the flood disaster currently affecting several communities across Ghana. The NPP's flagbearer for the 2028 elections made the call in a social media statement on Monday, 29th June.
Dr Bawumia stressed the need for a coordinated and urgent response, urging all relevant authorities to prioritise reaching affected residents and ensuring that timely relief is delivered to those in distress. Emergency responders have been working to rescue stranded individuals and provide support to families who have been displaced by the flooding.
"I also urge the emergency services and all relevant authorities to do everything possible to reach those in need and assist them," the former Vice President said in his statement.
Beyond directing his message at official responders, Dr Bawumia also called on ordinary Ghanaians to cooperate with government directives and contribute to national efforts aimed at managing the crisis. He noted that public participation would be critical to an effective and organised relief operation.
Concluding on a note of unity and hope, Dr Bawumia encouraged the nation to look out for one another during the difficult period. "We will get through this difficult time by caring for one another," he said, closing his message with a prayer: "May God bless our homeland Ghana."
