Interior Ministry Urges Ghanaians to Stay Put as Floods Strike Communities
Ghana's Interior Ministry has issued an urgent public advisory asking residents to stay where they are until conditions are deemed safe, following flooding that has struck several communities across the country.
Authorities specifically urged people living in flood-prone areas to move to higher ground where doing so is possible and safe, warning against unnecessary movement that could put lives at risk.
The Ministry also called on members of the public to report emergencies or individuals in distress to the nearest security agency, stressing the importance of community vigilance during the crisis.
Flooding remains one of Ghana's most persistent seasonal challenges, with communities in low-lying areas of Accra and other regions regularly bearing the brunt of heavy rains that overwhelm drainage infrastructure.
Residents are encouraged to monitor official government channels and local news for further updates as the situation continues to develop.
