NADMO Activates Emergency Hotline as Floods Threaten Accra, Tema and Kasoa
The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has put its emergency response machinery on high alert following persistent heavy rains that have triggered widespread flooding across several parts of Ghana, with Greater Accra among the worst affected regions.
In a public notice shared via its official Facebook page, NADMO directed residents to call the toll-free emergency line 112 for any disaster-related incidents requiring immediate assistance. The organisation stressed that the line is available to all members of the public free of charge.
NADMO has issued an urgent flood alert covering major communities within the Greater Accra Region, specifically naming Accra, Tema, and Kasoa as areas experiencing dangerous water levels following heavy downpours. Low-lying communities in these zones are said to be at particular risk.
Residents living near known flood-prone areas have been strongly advised to avoid such zones and, where necessary, relocate to safer ground until conditions improve. NADMO cautioned that water levels are still rising in a number of communities across the region.
What You Should Do
- Call 112 immediately if you or someone near you is in danger due to flooding
- Stay away from waterways, gutters, and low-lying areas during heavy rainfall
- Follow updates from NADMO through official channels for the latest alerts
