Two arrested in Tuba shooting that killed breadwinner; police hunt third suspect with firearm

The Accra Regional Police Command has made progress in investigations into a fatal shooting at Beach Drive Estate in Tuba near Weija that claimed the life of a 54-year-old man and left his wife critically injured. Two brothers, Adams Adder Almeida and Bala Bilyon, have been arrested with assistance from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET), whilst a third suspect remains at large.

The shooting incident occurred on 6 August 2026 when Mohammed Rahman and his wife Christiana Fosu, 53, were attacked outside their four-bedroom home. Rahman was pronounced dead on arrival at Finney Hospital in Weija, whilst Fosu was transferred to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where she continues to receive treatment and is showing signs of recovery.

How the investigation unfolded

During interrogation, Adams Adder Almeida reportedly confessed to carrying out the shooting. Police say he claimed that the deceased had repeatedly called him lazy and useless, remarks that he said had caused him significant emotional distress. This motive—rooted in workplace or social tension—highlights how interpersonal conflicts can escalate tragically without intervention.

The breakthrough in the case came when Adams led investigators to his brother's room, also at Beach Drive Estate, where a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered hidden beneath the wall drop. The discovery is significant as illegal firearms remain a persistent security concern in urban Ghana.

Police established that both brothers live together in the same room at Tuba, and notably, Bala Bilyon works with the deceased. Adams told investigators that the pistol had been given to him by a third suspect named Gideon, whose residence was located at Tuba. However, when police visited Gideon's home, he was not found. Ongoing efforts are underway to apprehend him.
