NPP Western Region Gets New Leadership Team Ahead of 2028 Election Push

The New Patriotic Party has installed a fresh leadership structure in its Western Region following regional executive elections, signalling the party's early mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2028 general election cycle. Ignatius Kwesi Afrifa, a former parliamentary candidate in Amenfi West, secured the regional chairmanship with a commanding 265 votes, defeating rival Abdul Ganiyu Mohammed who polled 102 votes at the Agona-Nkwanta polling venue.

The election results reveal a competitive race across multiple positions, with several candidates receiving substantial support despite single-victor outcomes. The party elected a full slate of officials including Kwasi Bonzoh as Regional Secretary (211 votes), Emmanuel Acquah Mensah as Communications Director (212 votes), and Nana Adwoa Appiah as Treasurer with 262 votes—the second-highest vote count of the day.

Beyond the top positions, the NPP Western Region now has a 10-member executive council spanning all functional areas. Ignatius Aaaah Mensah and Francis Abeku Yankah assumed the First and Second Vice Chair roles with 205 and 193 votes respectively. Lawrence Takyi took the Deputy Secretary post (157 votes), while Amoabeng Acheampong became Regional Organiser (181 votes).

The youth and women's divisions received dedicated representation through Osagyefo Attiah Kwaw as Youth Organiser (197 votes) and Augustina Nketiah as Women's Organiser (193 votes). Adam Harun Ahmed completed the slate as Nasara Organiser (190 votes), cementing the party's grassroots mobilisation infrastructure.
