MTN Ghana Recognised for Supply Chain Excellence at National Business Summit

MTN Ghana has earned four major honours at the 6th National Governance and Business Leadership Summit (NGBLS) 2026, cementing its reputation as a leader in operational excellence and corporate governance within Ghana's telecommunications sector. The awards, presented on 25 September 2026, recognised the company's achievements in procurement, supply chain management, and strategic business operations.

The four honours bestowed on MTN Ghana and its team members were: Excellence in Strategic Procurement & Supply Chain Management (Telecommunications) for the company overall; Outstanding Supply Chain Transformation Team of the Year (Telecommunications) for its Supply Chain Management team; Supply Chain Leader of the Year (Telecommunications) for Patrick Afari, General Manager of Supply Chain and General Services; and Top 100 Procurement & Supply Chain Leaders of the Year for Eugenia Lamptey, Sourcing Manager.

What These Awards Mean for MTN Ghana

The recognition reflects more than a decade of intentional investment by MTN Ghana in strengthening its supply chain infrastructure. The company has prioritised technology adoption, data-driven planning, and strategic partnerships to boost operational efficiency and reduce costs. These improvements have directly supported MTN Ghana's ability to deliver reliable services to millions of customers across the country, particularly as the organisation marks 30 years of operations in Ghana.

Antoinette Kwofie, Chief Finance Officer of MTN Ghana, emphasised that the awards represent a team effort rather than individual success. She stated: "These awards reflect the hard work and dedication of our Supply Chain team and the strong collaboration they have built across the business. We are proud of this recognition and will continue to strengthen our capabilities to meet the evolving needs of our customers and stakeholders."

Kwofie further highlighted the cultural foundations underpinning the team's success, noting that the organisation has built "a culture that values accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement," with contributions from colleagues across different departments.

The Broader Context: Why It Matters for Ghana

The National Governance and Business Leadership Summit brought together senior figures from business, governance, regulation, and professional services to examine corporate governance, ethical leadership, and sustainable growth in Ghana's transforming economy. The theme—"Governance, Integrity & Enterprise Performance in a Transforming Economy"—reflects Ghana's ongoing focus on improving corporate standards and accountability across sectors.

MTN Ghana's wins are significant for several reasons. First, they demonstrate that Ghanaian companies can achieve world-class standards in supply chain management and procurement, areas critical to operational cost control and business resilience. Second, the awards validate MTN Ghana's role as a major economic player in the country, generating employment and contributing to the telecommunications infrastructure that supports Ghana's digital economy. Third, the focus on governance and ethical compliance aligns with Ghana's broader economic development agenda, which emphasises transparency and accountability.

As one of Ghana's largest private employers and most visible multinational corporations, MTN Ghana's commitment to governance excellence sets a benchmark for other organisations operating in the country. The company's supply chain investments also support local suppliers and small and medium-sized enterprises that form part of its procurement ecosystem.

Building Future Capacity

The awards come at a pivotal moment for MTN Ghana, which is celebrating three decades of operations in the country. The company's focus on building "resilient and future-ready business capabilities" suggests a strategic orientation towards long-term sustainability and innovation. As Ghana's economy continues to evolve and digital services become more critical, the strength of MTN Ghana's operational backbone will be essential to maintaining service quality and supporting the company's growth ambitions.
