Kenyasi Chief Transforms School with Modern Classroom Block

New Facility Replaces Crumbling Infrastructure

Students and staff at Kenyasi No.1 Roman Catholic Junior High School in Asutifi North, Ahafo Region, have endured years of unsafe learning conditions. Weak roofing, cracked walls, broken windows and damaged floors created a persistent threat to their safety, with teachers conducting lessons under constant anxiety about potential structural collapse.

The Omanhene of Kenyasi No.1 Traditional Area, Nana Osei Kofi Abiri, has now fully funded and commissioned an ultra-modern three-unit classroom block equipped with administrative offices and storage facilities. The facility was handed over during a commissioning ceremony, with headteacher Samuel Boadi expressing profound gratitude for the chief's intervention, which he said has significantly improved safety and comfort for both students and staff.

Chief's Development Vision Recognised

District officials lauded the project as a prime example of community-led development. Asutifi North District Chief Executive Dauda Hafiz Dabel described the Omanhene as a 'beacon of community-led development', noting that the classroom block joins other initiatives funded by the chief, including a police training school, Osei Kofi Abiri Basic School, and Lady Julia ICT Training Centre.

The project aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure). District Education Director Naomi Asantewaa pledged that the Education Directorate would intensify supervision to ensure academic performance improves alongside the enhanced facilities. Catholic Bishop of Goaso, Most Rev. Peter Kwaku Atuahene, also praised the partnership between traditional authorities and educational development.
