ECG rolls out advanced digital system to speed up power outage fixes across Ghana
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has introduced a Digital Network Management System designed to improve how quickly the utility detects and responds to power faults across the country. The new platform gives senior management, including the Managing Director, real-time visibility into fault restoration activities, enabling faster decision-making and better coordination when outages occur.
The system represents a significant upgrade to ECG's infrastructure management capabilities, allowing the company to monitor network issues as they happen rather than relying on delayed reports from the field. This real-time visibility is expected to cut response times considerably and reduce the duration of power cuts affecting households and businesses nationwide.
The move comes as ECG continues to face pressure from Ghanaians frustrated by frequent outages and extended blackouts. The new digital tools are intended to help the utility transition from reactive fault management to a more proactive, data-driven approach that can identify potential problems before they cause widespread disruptions.
