GaDangme Homowo Festival Launch Moved to July as Traditional Rites Take Priority

Organisers of the 2026 GaDangme Homowo Festival Celebrations have announced a postponement of the event's launch, moving it from June 28 to July 25, 2026. The GaDangme Unity Organization, working alongside traditional authorities, made the decision to accommodate important cultural preparations in the lead-up to the annual Nungua Homowo Festival on July 3, 2026.

The delay stems from the need to conduct a series of customary rites and traditional observances that require the full participation of key stakeholders. Organisers noted that the rescheduling ensures these sacred practices receive adequate attention without competing demands. Additionally, Ghana's FIFA World Cup qualifier against Croatia in the United States is expected to draw several dignitaries and stakeholders away during the original date.

The revised launch will feature the GaDangme Youth Sports Festival, Tourism and Awards Programme, bringing together traditional leaders, youth groups, sports enthusiasts and community members to celebrate culture and unity. Organisers have apologised for any inconvenience and called for continued public support.

Separately, the second edition of the "Night of Republic Day" boxing championship will take place on July 31, 2026, at Bukom Boxing Arena. The event will showcase Ghana's Musah Rahman Lawson against Nigeria's Raimi Isiaka in the main bout, honouring Ghana's Republic Day.
