Mahama Blames Rains for Slowdown in Big Push Infrastructure Projects

President John Mahama has admitted that the ongoing rainy season and widespread flooding have significantly slowed construction work on a number of projects under his administration's flagship Big Push infrastructure programme. He assured Ghanaians, however, that funding for the projects has already been secured and allocated.

The President's comments come as commuters across various parts of the country continue to endure considerable discomfort, with road works and other construction sites largely at a standstill due to the adverse weather conditions.

Heavy rains have battered several regions of Ghana in recent weeks, triggering flooding that has not only disrupted daily life but also hampered the pace of development projects the government had pledged to deliver to communities across the country.

Mahama sought to reassure the public that the delays are temporary and weather-related, stressing that the financial resources needed to complete the projects are firmly in place. Work, he indicated, is expected to resume at full pace once conditions improve.

The Big Push programme is one of the Mahama administration's central economic initiatives, designed to drive large-scale investment in roads, housing, and other critical infrastructure as a means of stimulating growth and creating jobs across Ghana.
