itel POWER 80 Lands in Ghana: Military-Grade Rugged Phone at GHS 1,729 with Record Battery Life
Smartphone manufacturer itel has introduced the POWER 80 to the Ghanaian market, positioning it as a durable device built for users in challenging environments. Priced at GHS 1,729, the phone is now available through flexible payment schemes, including EasyBuy's Pay Later service starting at GHS 13 daily.
The POWER 80 is built around itel's "No Case. Still Tough" concept, which emphasises protection without requiring users to purchase additional protective cases. The phone features a Cage Frame Shockproof Design capable of withstanding drops from up to two metres, reinforced with TPU-cushioned corners and raised bezels to absorb impact.
Military-Grade Durability and Water Resistance
The device carries MIL-STD-810H and SGS certifications, internationally recognised standards that verify its ability to endure drops, impacts and demanding environmental conditions. The POWER 80 is among the first in its category to combine military-grade durability with triple protection against water, dust and accidental damage.
Most notably, the phone holds IP68 and IP69 ratings, allowing it to withstand water immersion up to two metres deep, high-temperature water exposure up to 85°C and high-pressure water resistance between 80 and 100 bar. A multi-layer sealing system with waterproof gaskets prevents water and dust from reaching internal components. The device can operate reliably across extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to 70°C.
Exceptional Battery Performance and Self-Repair Technology
The standout feature is the 7000mAh battery, which itel claims delivers up to 67.8 days of standby time, 22.6 hours of video playback and 54.2 hours of call time. For users frequently on the move without access to power sources, this capacity represents a significant advantage over standard smartphones.
The POWER 80 includes Battery Self-Repair Technology that automatically initiates a restoration process every 200 charging cycles, reducing battery degradation by up to 24 percent. This extends the phone's usable lifespan and addresses one of the most common complaints from smartphone users—battery deterioration over time. The phone also supports 18W fast charging for quick top-ups during the day.
Why It Matters for Ghana
For Ghanaian consumers, particularly those in rural areas or working outdoors, the POWER 80 addresses real pain points. Irregular electricity supply means long battery life is highly valued, and the device's durability could reduce the need for frequent replacements due to accidental damage.
The flexible payment options are equally significant. Through EasyBuy's Pay Later scheme, buyers can spread the cost at just GHS 13 daily. Purchases before 30th June qualify for additional incentives: a 3-month interest-free instalment plan with GHS 500 down payment, six months of free 30GB monthly Telecel data, and an exclusive gift.
itel has partnered with the Ghana Police Service as part of its launch, donating reflective safety vests to support officers in traffic control. This collaboration demonstrates the brand's commitment to the local community while highlighting the phone's reliability in demanding professional use.
The POWER 80 targets users whose work or lifestyle exposes their phones to harsh conditions—traders, outdoor workers, security personnel and adventure enthusiasts. For these groups, the military certification and water resistance provide genuine practical benefits beyond marketing claims.
