ECG schedules three-day maintenance shutdown across Tema communities

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has notified residents across Tema of planned power interruptions spanning three consecutive days as the utility undertakes critical maintenance work on its distribution network. From Tuesday, 29 September through Thursday, 1 October 2026, affected communities will experience outages between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily, with the work designed to strengthen service reliability in the region.

The maintenance initiative affects dozens of residential areas, industrial zones and commercial districts across the Tema metropolis. The scale of the outages underscores the extensive nature of the infrastructure work, which ECG says is essential for improving long-term service delivery to customers across the region.

Which areas are affected and when

On the first day of maintenance, communities including Cambodia, Community 18, Adjetey Ansah, Bankuman, Naval Quarters, Akuaba and Manet Estate will be without power. The Coastal Estate, Kasapreko Packaging and surrounding localities are also included in Tuesday's shutdown list.

Wednesday's outage affects a broader swath of the greater Tema area, particularly communities to the east and south. Golf City, Sakumono Village, Sege, Aqua Safari, Big Ada, Ada Foah and Treasure Island are among the affected zones, along with Nungua P&T and several residential estates in the Tema periphery.

The final day of maintenance on Thursday targets areas including Devtraco, Addogonnor, Danadams, Frimpoma Estate and Don Bosco. Several healthcare and commercial facilities in those zones will also experience the interruption, including Green Hill Hospital and various business establishments.
