Driver miraculously escapes injury as vehicle crashes into ECG pole in Volta Region

A fortunate escape unfolded in the Volta Region on Sunday when a male motorist emerged uninjured after his Hyundai Accent crashed into an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) distribution pole at Anfoega Adame Newtown in North Dayi District.

The accident occurred directly opposite Anfoega Fire Station, allowing personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to witness and respond to the incident immediately. Led by Station Officer I Franklin Soglo, firefighters quickly arrived at the scene where the vehicle (registration GW 6383-17) was found lodged against the electricity pole following the collision.

Rescue teams worked swiftly to safely extract the trapped driver from the damaged vehicle. Though he showed no visible signs of injury at the scene, GNFS personnel advised him to undergo medical examination as a precautionary measure to rule out internal injuries or delayed effects from the impact.

The damaged car was subsequently towed to the nearest police station to facilitate investigations into the accident. Firefighters remained at the scene to manage traffic flow and ensure the safety of other road users whilst recovery operations concluded.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, with authorities working to determine why the vehicle left the roadway and struck the electricity pole.
