Telecel Ghana's M'ahitti Promo Creates Three Millionaires Over Four Months

Telecel Ghana has unveiled its most ambitious customer rewards campaign to date, the M'ahitti Promo, which will create three new millionaires over the next four months and distribute millions of cedis across thousands of participants nationwide. The 2026 campaign marks a significant shift in how the telecommunications company rewards customer loyalty, doubling down on incentives across its digital ecosystem.

Unlike previous annual campaigns that crowned a single grand prize winner, the M'ahitti Promo will award GH¢1 million to three separate customers—one millionaire announced each month during the promotional period. The total prize pool is substantial: 12,000 daily draw winners will receive GH¢100 each, up to 48 weekly winners will claim GH¢20,000 each, and the three grand prize winners will take home GH¢1 million apiece. This positions the campaign as one of Ghana's largest telecom sector consumer rewards initiatives.

How to Participate and Win

Participation is free and open to all Telecel customers across the country. To opt in, customers can dial *500#, text WIN to 500, or activate the promotion through the Telecel Play App. Every GH¢10 or more spent on recharge, bundle purchase, or Telecel Cash deposit earns entries into the daily, weekly, and monthly draws.

The campaign incentivises digital adoption through a tiered entry system. Customers who purchase airtime or bundles via Telecel Cash receive double entries, while those using the Telecel Play App earn bonus entries. Transactions conducted on the digital platform also attract double entries, encouraging migration away from traditional over-the-counter purchasing methods.

Weekly winners are selected from all 16 regions, ensuring equal opportunity regardless of location. Every draw is conducted under the supervision of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) Caritas platform to guarantee transparency and regulatory compliance. The NLA has confirmed that Telecel has met all regulatory requirements to commence the promotion.

Why It Matters for Ghana

This campaign reflects broader trends in Ghana's telecommunications sector as companies compete for customer retention whilst pushing digital financial inclusion. By tying larger rewards to Telecel Cash and app-based transactions, the company is leveraging the promo to drive adoption of its fintech services—a key revenue driver beyond traditional voice and data services.

For Ghanaian consumers, the promo represents genuine value in an increasingly competitive mobile market. The emphasis on regional distribution means customers in smaller towns and rural areas have equal odds of winning weekly prizes, addressing previous criticisms that major prize campaigns concentrated winners in urban centres. The transparency framework involving the NLA also provides assurance that draws are conducted fairly—a critical consideration given Ghana's history with lottery fraud.

The campaign also signals confidence in Ghana's economic recovery, with Telecel willing to distribute significant prize money. For the three eventual millionaires, the windfall could be life-changing; for thousands of daily and weekly winners, the smaller prizes provide meaningful cash injections in a cost-of-living environment where many households remain under financial pressure.

Fraud Prevention and Winner Protection

Telecel has emphasised that participation is entirely free and warned customers against fraudsters impersonating the company. Winners will never be asked to pay processing fees, surrender their Telecel Cash PIN, or make any payment before receiving prizes. The company has urged customers to use only official channels—*500#, texting to 500, or the verified Telecel Play App—to avoid scams.

The M'ahitti Promo runs for four months, with draws conducted regularly throughout. Full details and terms are available via the company's official channels.
