NPP Regional Organiser Moses Abor meets Abronye DC to resolve internal party tensions

The New Patriotic Party appears to be moving quickly to contain internal tensions after the Greater Accra Regional Organiser, Moses Abor, held a reconciliatory meeting with Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe—better known by his social media handle Abronye DC—to address concerns stemming from recent online commentary.

According to a statement from Abor, the meeting was prompted by comments made by Abronye DC on his show that had sparked concern among party activists. The encounter also included discussions with Charles Opoku Presidoo, whose earlier grievances regarding the matter were resolved during the talks.

Party unity takes priority

Abor emphasised that the discussions were conducted in a constructive spirit, reflecting the party's broader commitment to presenting a united front ahead of the 2028 presidential election. He stated that all parties involved were satisfied with how the concerns were addressed, and called on party members to move past the issue.

"With the matter now resolved, I encourage all Party activists to let the matter rest and redirect our energy toward holding the NDC accountable for its failures and misleading claims," Abor said in his statement.

The resolution signals an attempt by NPP leadership to refocus party messaging on criticising the ruling National Democratic Congress rather than allowing internal disagreements to dominate the conversation. Abor further urged party members to continue promoting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party's choice to lead Ghana beyond 2028.

What this means for Ghana's political landscape

The incident highlights the NPP's ongoing internal dynamics as it prepares for the next election cycle. Social media has become an increasingly important—and sometimes contentious—platform for political figures to communicate directly with supporters, and Abronye DC in particular has built a significant following through his commentary on party and national affairs.

Party unity messaging is critical for the NPP at this stage. With the 2028 election still some time away, managing internal voices and preventing public disputes from escalating is a priority for leadership. The fact that regional figures were involved in the resolution suggests party structures are functioning to address grievances before they spiral into larger factional tensions.

For ordinary Ghanaians watching the political landscape, such developments serve as reminders that both major parties—the NPP and NDC—manage internal differences as they prepare for electoral competition. How efficiently parties resolve such matters often reflects their organisational strength and readiness for national leadership.

The NPP's emphasis on unity and refocusing on NDC criticism suggests the party intends to channel its energies into opposition politics and positioning its candidate rather than entertaining internal distractions during this election preparation phase.
