Nigeria's Amusan Clocks 12.27 to Claim Paris Diamond League Hurdles Crown

Nigerian sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan delivered another commanding performance on the global stage, clocking 12.27 seconds to win the women's 100m hurdles at the Paris Diamond League on Sunday, 28th June. The time, recorded under a legal tailwind of 0.7 metres per second, equalled her personal best for the 2026 season.

The victory further solidifies Amusan's position as the dominant force in the 100m hurdles event heading into the major championships scheduled for later this year. It also adds another prestigious Diamond League title to an already impressive collection for the Nigerian athlete.

Amusan continues to hold the women's 100m hurdles world record, a blistering 12.12 seconds set during the semi-finals of the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon — a mark that remains one of the most celebrated in African athletics history.

Her record, however, is facing mounting pressure this season. American hurdler Masai Russell is among a crop of athletes who have posted fast times in pursuit of the historic mark, keeping fans and followers across Africa on close watch.

The Paris result is being closely followed in West Africa, where Amusan's performances continue to inspire a generation of young athletes, including those in Ghana who compete in track and field events across the sub-region.
