Ghanaian PR Campaign Wins at Prestigious 2026 IPRA Golden World Awards

A Ghanaian public relations campaign centred on storytelling has been honoured at the 2026 International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden World Awards for Excellence, cementing Ghana's position on the global communications stage. The campaign was among 95 winning entries selected from submissions across the world, each demonstrating exceptional strategic communications and creative execution.

The IPRA Golden World Awards, established in 1990 and widely regarded as the most prestigious recognition for public relations excellence globally, celebrated campaigns addressing urgent contemporary challenges, from artificial intelligence and conflict resolution to strategic communications innovation. The international judging panel, comprising senior PR professionals from ten countries including Bulgaria, Croatia, Egypt, Estonia, Germany, Serbia, Ghana, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States, convened at the Ghana High Commission in Belgravia, London, to evaluate entries.

IPRA Secretary General Philip Sheppard highlighted the calibre of this year's submissions. "This year we had such exceptionally strong entries we made a number of joint awards," he noted, adding that judges were particularly impressed by contributions to the new "Courage in Communications" category, which recognises campaigns tackling difficult or sensitive issues with integrity.

Ghana's Growing Communications Prowess

The recognition of a Ghana-focused storytelling campaign underscores the country's emerging strength in strategic communications and narrative-driven advocacy. As Ghana continues to position itself as a regional communications hub within West Africa, international validation through awards such as the IPRA Golden World scheme amplifies the nation's professional reputation and attracts global collaboration opportunities.

The award also reflects broader trends in African public relations, where storytelling—particularly those rooted in cultural authenticity and local context—is increasingly recognised as a powerful tool for organisational and social impact. Ghana's win suggests that local communications professionals are successfully competing at the highest international levels, blending African narrative traditions with global best practices.

Why It Matters for Ghana

For Ghana's communications and creative industries, this recognition carries several implications. First, it validates local PR and storytelling expertise, potentially enhancing the attractiveness of Ghanaian agencies to multinational clients seeking authentic, culturally-informed campaigns. Second, it demonstrates that Ghana can host world-class professional networks—the judging panel met at the Ghana High Commission, signalling confidence in Ghana's institutional capacity.

The broader context is significant: as organisations globally grapple with trust deficits and audience fragmentation, storytelling and authentic communications have become strategic imperatives. Ghana's recognition in this category suggests the nation's communicators are equipped to address these challenges, positioning the country as a potential thought leader within African PR circles.

The full list of award winners and the prestigious Grand Prix recipient will be unveiled at the IPRA Golden World Awards Gala scheduled for 25 September in Athens, Greece. The event will also announce the recipient of the Global Contribution Award for Public Relations, which honours projects advancing one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Founded in 1955, IPRA remains the world's leading network for public relations professionals, with the Golden World Awards serving as the only truly global awards scheme dedicated exclusively to excellence in the field.
