Ghana's Energy Minister Pushes GRIDCo to Boost Power Grid Reliability Through Maintenance and Tech

Ghana's Energy Minister has instructed the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) to intensify its preventive maintenance protocols and enhance system monitoring capabilities to bolster the reliability of the national electricity grid. The directive emphasises the urgent need for the state-owned transmission operator to adopt cutting-edge technologies that can help prevent power outages and improve overall service delivery across the country.

Minister's Call for Enhanced Grid Management

The charge comes as GRIDCo continues to manage the complex task of transmitting electricity from generation sources to distribution companies nationwide. By strengthening preventive maintenance schedules, GRIDCo can identify and address potential equipment failures before they escalate into widespread blackouts that disrupt businesses, households and critical services.
