Free Management System Now Available to 500 African Nonprofits—Ghana's Charities Could Benefit

A Pan-African organisation has opened applications for a major capacity-building initiative that could significantly improve fundraising prospects for Ghanaian nonprofits. RFLD (Réseau des Femmes Leaders pour le Développement) is distributing free access to its comprehensive management software to 500 registered nonprofit organisations across Africa, with applications closing on 31 July 2026.

The RFLD Management Suite, valued at US$5,000 per organisation, addresses a critical challenge facing many high-impact charities and development groups: the inability to demonstrate the financial controls and governance systems that international donors increasingly require before releasing funds. According to John Gbenagnon, RFLD's Development Director for Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships, strong organisations often lose funding not because their work is weak, but because they cannot show donors the institutional systems donors expect to see.

What the System Offers

The RFLD Management Suite consolidates ten core operational functions into a single platform designed specifically for African organisations. The system includes integrated modules for finance and grants management, programmes, monitoring and evaluation, human resources, gender, communications, membership, procurement, safeguarding, and governance.

On the financial side, the platform provides donor-grade controls such as maker-checker approval workflows, budget-versus-actual grant tracking, bank reconciliation tools, period locking, and numbered payment vouchers. It also includes encrypted sections for sensitive safeguarding and gender-related records, addressing the data protection concerns many donors now scrutinise.

  • Fully bilingual in English and French
  • Operates offline without internet connectivity requirements
  • Organisations retain full ownership and control of their data
  • Includes twelve months of technical support and guided onboarding

Eligibility and Application Details

The Organisational Resilience Program targets registered nonprofit organisations operating anywhere across Africa with annual budgets between US$10,000 and US$1,000,000. This range makes the programme accessible to small community-based organisations as well as mid-sized charities and NGOs—a significant portion of Ghana's nonprofit sector.

Selected organisations will undergo guided onboarding throughout August 2026 and receive a full year of technical support to ensure successful implementation. The first cohort of 500 organisations will be onboarded immediately after the application deadline.

Why It Matters for Ghana

Ghana's nonprofit sector—including health charities, education initiatives, women's rights organisations, and community development groups—has historically faced funding constraints partly due to insufficient documentation of governance and financial management systems. Donor institutions, particularly international foundations and bilateral organisations, now require detailed evidence of internal controls, audit readiness, and safeguarding protocols before committing funds.

For Ghanaian organisations, access to this free software could level the playing field when competing for grants. The system's offline functionality is particularly valuable in contexts where internet infrastructure may be unreliable, while the bilingual design accommodates organisations working across French and English-speaking West Africa.

Additionally, the focus on safeguarding and gender modules reflects contemporary donor priorities. Many international funders now make gender analysis and safeguarding compliance non-negotiable conditions of funding, and organisations demonstrating robust systems in these areas are significantly more competitive in fundraising.

Ghanaian nonprofits interested in applying should visit https://rflgd.org/rfld-organizational-resilience-program/ before the 31 July 2026 deadline. Given the programme's scope—limited to 500 organisations across the entire African continent—early application is advisable.
