VDTA Marks 10 Years of Transforming Young Lives at Spectacular Sparkle Day 2026

The National Theatre of Ghana was packed to capacity on Sunday, 21st June, as hundreds of families, supporters, and dignitaries gathered to witness Sparkle Day 2026 — the 10th Anniversary production of Vivie's Dance and Theatre Academy (VDTA). The milestone event, themed "EvoluXion: Find X," was a vibrant celebration of a decade spent shaping young Ghanaians through the performing arts.

Distinguished guests included Creative Entrepreneur Chief Moomen of the Bambu Centre, government ministers, ambassadors, and members of the diplomatic community, all of whom watched in admiration as children and young people of varying ages took to the stage. Performances spanning ballet, contemporary dance, acrobatics, African dance, taekwondo, and music showcased months of rigorous training and commitment.

Among the evening's most touching moments was the audience's warm response when some of the youngest performers stumbled mid-routine — rather than silence, the theatre erupted in applause and encouragement. The spectacular finale by The X, an elite group of students trained across multiple disciplines, brought the entire auditorium to its feet with a standing ovation.

Founder and CEO Vivian Boateng used her anniversary address to reflect on ten years of purpose and perseverance, while also casting an eye to the future. "The world is looking to Africa — not as a future possibility, but as a present reality," she said. "The young performers on this stage are part of that story. They are learning not only how to dance and perform; they are learning how to communicate, collaborate, create, and lead."

A major highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the 10K Legacy Project, an ambitious initiative aimed at expanding access to quality performing arts education for thousands more children across Ghana. Central to the project is a drive to train and certify a new generation of arts educators in creative and holistic movement methodologies, creating sustainable economic pathways within Ghana's growing creative economy.

Awards were also presented to loyal families, partner school coordinators, and key supporters in recognition of their contributions over the past decade, with several recipients moved to tears. As VDTA steps boldly into its next chapter, Sparkle Day 2026 stood as a powerful testament to what performing arts education can do — not just for the stage, but for life.
