Tima Kumkum Opens Up on Second Divorce: 'Marriage Is Not on My Mind Right Now'
Ghanaian media personality and brand influencer Cynthia Tima Yeboah, known professionally as Tima Kumkum, has broken her silence on the end of her second marriage, revealing in an exclusive interview that she is currently focused on personal healing rather than future romantic commitments. Speaking on Joy Prime's Changes programme hosted by Nikki Samonas, the award-winning presenter confirmed that she and her husband Dominic Duodu have been living separately since 1 April 2025.
When asked whether she would consider marriage for a third time, Tima made clear that such plans are not on her horizon. "As I am sitting here, I don't know. It is the last thing on my mind," she stated, emphasising that at 39 years old—turning 40 next year—she still has time to discover what the future may hold, but her current priority is completing the legal divorce process and moving forward with her life.
The Journey to a Second Marriage
Tima revealed that she had spent approximately seven years raising her children alone before meeting Dominic, who brought two children of his own into the relationship. The couple dated, built what she described as "a beautiful family together," and married in July 2023. They later welcomed a son. However, despite these positive beginnings, the relationship ultimately did not survive. "Nature happened. Things just didn't work out," she said when reflecting on the breakdown.
The separation came as a shock to Tima, who admitted she never anticipated experiencing divorce for a second time. "Never," she responded when asked if she had imagined going through this again, particularly given her previous experience with divorce. Despite the emotional toll, she has chosen to remain measured in discussing the matter publicly, maintaining that the specific reasons behind the marital breakdown are private and will not be disclosed.
Moving Forward with Grace
Tima acknowledged that she initially hesitated to speak publicly about her separation but eventually decided that there was little point in concealing information that those close to her already knew. She has also braced herself for public criticism and reaction to her candid revelations, noting that the healing process has been positive so far.
Notably, despite the end of their romantic relationship, Tima spoke favourably of Dominic's character and commitment to fatherhood. "He's a very responsible man. I'll give him his flowers for that," she said, emphasising that both parents remain dedicated to caring for their son together.
Why It Matters for Ghana
Tima Kumkum's openness about her personal struggles carries significance within Ghanaian discourse around marriage, divorce, and mental health. As a public figure with considerable influence, her willingness to discuss the reality of failed relationships—particularly a second marriage—helps normalise conversations that are often shrouded in shame or silence in Ghanaian society. Her emphasis on prioritising personal healing and rejecting societal pressure to remarry reflects a growing conversation among Ghanaian women about agency, self-care, and redefining life success beyond matrimony. Additionally, her candid acknowledgement of the emotional difficulty whilst maintaining co-parenting commitment sets a noteworthy example in a cultural context where divorce is sometimes viewed as a personal or moral failure rather than a life circumstance requiring grace and maturity.
The confirmation of the separation also marks the end of months of public speculation, which had intensified after observant social media users noticed Tima no longer wearing her wedding ring. Her decision to control the narrative rather than allow rumours to persist demonstrates a strategic approach to personal crisis management in an age of constant digital scrutiny.
