NDC Ketu South clears 73 aspirants for constituency executive elections

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ketu South has finalised its vetting process for internal constituency elections, clearing 73 out of 74 nomination aspirants to contest for various executive positions. The move represents a critical step in the party's internal democratic processes ahead of what could be a competitive 2028 general election campaign.

According to the party's official vetting results and balloting positions document, the elections will take place on Friday, October 23, 2026, with approximately 2,963 delegates expected to participate. The date shift from the originally scheduled October 24-25 was made to accommodate the final funeral rites of Torgbui Addo, the Paramount Chief of the Klikor Traditional Area, reflecting the constituency's respect for local traditional customs.

Contested positions and candidate distribution

Competition is particularly intense for positions involving multiple aspirants. The Chairman race features four candidates, with Mr Amedorme Sylvanus Yao leading the ballot order, followed by Mr Dzila Bright, Mr Kelie Elolo White and Mr Ahorlu Ferguson Kwabla. The Vice Chairman position has attracted three aspirants: Mr Sorokpo Daniel Jerry, Mr Awuye John-Mark and Mr Abelia Seth Kwasi.

Notably, Mr Reginald Edem Zigah has been unopposed for the Secretary position following the disqualification of incumbent Mr Desmond Kweku Tsewu. For Deputy Secretary, two candidates—Mr Atisu Napoleon and Mr Agbotey Clemence Kofi—will compete. The Communication Officer race includes Mr Kunya Cornelius Yao and Mr Doe David.

The Treasurer position sees three aspirants competing: Mr Sablah Cornelius Kofi, Mr Ahadzi Rocky Selasi and Ms Mikado Dora Dede. Other positions with multiple candidates include Deputy Communication Officer (3), Constituency Organizer (3) and Deputy Organizer (3), with the highest concentration of competition for the eight Other Members positions, which attracted 29 cleared candidates.
