MTN Ghana Gives Away Three More Toyota Prados in 30th Anniversary Giveaway

Three Ghanaians have joined the growing list of MTN customers winning major prizes in the telecommunications company's 30th anniversary celebration campaign. Faustina Asante, a businesswoman; Mahama Wasila, a farmer from the Northern Region; and Alidu Tanko, an engineer, each received keys to a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado at a prize presentation ceremony held in Kumasi's Kejetia business district on 16 September 2026.

The three winners were selected through MTN@30, a three-month promotional campaign that rewards customers for their everyday mobile usage. Unlike traditional promotions requiring registration or special codes, participants earn points automatically from routine activities—making calls, purchasing data, and conducting Mobile Money transactions. Every point accumulated translates into a chance to win prizes.

The Kumasi event marked the second major prize-giving ceremony under the campaign, following an earlier presentation in Accra. A third and final event is scheduled in the coming weeks. Across all three ceremonies, MTN Ghana will distribute nine Toyota Land Cruiser Prados to winners selected through the promotion.

The Scale of the Giveaway Programme

The MTN@30 promotion is significantly larger than a single vehicle giveaway. The company has committed to rewarding up to 30,000 customers with prizes spanning from the high-value vehicles down to cash rewards of up to GH¢30,000. This scale underscores MTN's investment in acknowledging customer loyalty across its user base of more than 32 million subscribers in Ghana.

According to Samuel Arthur, Senior Specialist for Mass Segment at MTN Ghana, the promotion represents the company's gratitude for three decades of support from Ghanaians. Arthur emphasised that independent auditing firm KPMG verifies promotion data at every stage, ensuring transparency and fairness in the selection process.

For Mahama Wasila, the win came as a shock. The farmer explained that she had simply continued her regular habit of purchasing airtime and data while using Mobile Money for transactions, never anticipating such a significant reward. "I never imagined that I could win something like this, but by God's grace, I have won this," she said at the ceremony.

Why It Matters for Ghana

MTN Ghana's anniversary campaign reflects broader trends in how major corporations engage with consumers in Ghana. The use of automatic reward systems based on everyday transactions—rather than requiring active participation—represents a shift towards inclusive promotional strategies that reward loyalty without creating barriers to entry.

The campaign also highlights the significance of Mobile Money adoption in Ghana's economy. By rewarding users for transactions across calls, data and mobile financial services, MTN acknowledges that Ghanaians increasingly rely on digital platforms for both communication and commerce. This integration mirrors Ghana's growing digital economy, where Mobile Money services have become central to how citizens conduct business.

Winners like Faustina Asante, who discovered the promotion through TikTok, illustrate how information about opportunities spreads through social media in contemporary Ghana. Her story—of learning about the campaign online, maximising her transactions to improve her chances, and winning substantially—resonates with the aspirations of many Ghanaians seeking genuine opportunities for advancement.

The 30-year milestone itself holds cultural significance. MTN's three decades in Ghana coincide with the country's digital transformation, and the company has been central to expanding mobile connectivity across urban and rural areas alike. By crediting customers in its anniversary theme, "30 Years of Progress, Powered by You," MTN acknowledges that infrastructure success depends on consumer adoption and trust.
