Gospel Minister Ohemaa Mercy Says Nana Ama McBrown Has Divine Calling to Preach
Renowned gospel musician Ohemaa Mercy has declared that beloved Ghanaian actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown possesses a divine calling to minister God's word, suggesting the entertainer should transition into formal spiritual leadership roles.
In a video statement shared on Instagram, Ohemaa Mercy expressed her conviction that McBrown carries a special anointing and has been chosen by God for a greater spiritual purpose. The gospel musician revealed she has been interceding for McBrown's calling since 2020, demonstrating a long-standing spiritual conviction about the actress's trajectory.
"If you have had an encounter with Nana Ama McBrown, you will see that God uses people in different ways. She has a calling. I have prophesied to her, and she has to obey and walk in it," Ohemaa Mercy stated during the video address.
McBrown's Proposed Spiritual Leadership Role
Beyond simply identifying a calling, Ohemaa Mercy recommended specific avenues through which McBrown could exercise her ministry. She suggested that the actress would be ideally suited to chair the Women of the Altar programme, a spiritual initiative that appears to be central to Ohemaa Mercy's ministry work.
"She should even chair the Women of the Altar programme. I have been praying about this from 2020 till now, and I know God will use her," the gospel musician asserted, emphasising her belief that McBrown's public profile and influence would strengthen the programme's impact.
McBrown Affirms Her Faith and Spiritual Journey
In response to Ohemaa Mercy's declaration, McBrown shared intimate details of her personal spiritual life, confirming her deep commitment to faith. She described a daily practice of beginning each morning with gratitude and reflection on God, noting that she considers the Divine to represent purity and goodness.
"Anytime I wake up in the morning, I look up at my ceiling and think about God because, in my mind, He represents the purest and cleanest thing. Before I get out of bed, I always give thanks to God," McBrown revealed.
The actress also attributed significant spiritual blessings to her faith journey, particularly regarding the health and wellbeing of her daughter, Maxin. McBrown credited Ohemaa Mercy's Tehillah Experience—a spiritual programme—with strengthening her faith and contributing to what she describes as miraculous outcomes in her family's life.
"If I should tell you what I have gained from the Tehillah Experience… My daughter, Maxin, was born in eight months and two days, and ever since, she has not suffered any illness. She is also eating very well," McBrown shared. She further noted that she had prayed specifically for protection over herself and her daughter, stating: "I prayed that no threatening condition would befall my daughter or me, and God has been faithful."
Why It Matters for Ghana
This exchange between two influential Ghanaian women in faith and entertainment reflects the deep religious fabric of Ghanaian society and the respected role spiritual leaders occupy in the public consciousness. Nana Ama McBrown remains one of Ghana's most recognisable television personalities, hosting the widely-watched United Showbiz programme and commanding significant social media influence. Her potential embrace of a more formal spiritual leadership position could signal a notable shift in how entertainment figures in Ghana engage with religious calling and community ministry.
Ohemaa Mercy's prophetic declaration also demonstrates the Ghanaian cultural context wherein spiritual gifting and calling are often identified and affirmed publicly by established religious figures. Such endorsements carry considerable weight within faith communities and can influence how audiences perceive an individual's spiritual authenticity and purpose.
