Ashanti Woman Dressed as 'Ghost' Caught Stealing Dead Friend's Clothes in Kwadaso
Residents of Agric in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region were left shaken over the weekend after a woman allegedly disguised herself as a ghost to break into the room of her recently deceased friend and steal her clothing.
The suspect, identified as Nana Akua — popularly known on TikTok as Mama Gee or Akua Sikapa — was discovered inside the room of the late Mrs Osei Bonsu on Saturday evening. Neighbours grew suspicious after spotting unusual movement around the property, where the deceased had lived before passing away a few weeks earlier.
An eyewitness named Matilda told Adom News that those present initially believed the figure draped in white was a supernatural presence before realising it was a living person. "We saw someone dressed like a ghost trying to unlock the door of the late Mrs Osei Bonsu. We were afraid because we thought it was a ghost… we then started shouting 'thief, thief,' and the youth who were around moved to the house and caught her," she recounted.
When confronted, Nana Akua reportedly told community members that she had been experiencing spiritual disturbances linked to the spirit of her late friend. She claimed a fetish priest had instructed her to retrieve the deceased's clothes and use them in a ritual to bring the haunting to an end.
Community members say the two women shared a close bond — Mrs Osei Bonsu had reportedly led a group to which Nana Akua also belonged, with the suspect serving as her deputy. The crowd subsequently handed Nana Akua over to the Ghana Police Service, which has confirmed that investigations are underway to establish her full motive and whether she had accomplices.
Residents are urging authorities to conduct a thorough probe into the incident, which has stirred considerable unease in the neighbourhood.
