Ahanta West MCE Launches Surprise Inspections to Tackle Flooding Menace
The Municipal Chief Executive for Ahanta West has taken direct action to address the persistent flooding challenges facing the municipality, embarking on a series of unannounced inspections across communities most vulnerable to flood incidents.
The MCE was accompanied on the visits by the Municipal Works Engineer as well as officials drawn from the Physical Planning Department, signalling a coordinated, multi-agency approach to tackling the problem at its roots.
The surprise nature of the inspections is understood to be deliberate, allowing authorities to assess the true on-the-ground conditions in flood-prone areas without advance preparation by local stakeholders that could obscure existing problems.
Flooding remains a significant concern across many parts of Ghana, particularly during the rainy season, when poor drainage infrastructure and unregulated construction in waterways contribute to the destruction of property and displacement of residents.
Residents and community leaders in Ahanta West are expected to engage with the visiting officials to highlight specific drainage and planning concerns, as the municipality works towards implementing lasting remedial measures.
