Stonebwoy Lands Spot on Hollywood Film Soundtrack Alongside American Artists

Ghana's dancehall ambassador Stonebwoy has secured another major international milestone, landing a feature on the official soundtrack of Boyz Trip, a Hollywood action comedy currently in production and slated for worldwide cinema release in 2027. The collaboration places one of Ghana's most decorated musicians alongside American talents on a project backed by an Australian entertainment outfit.

The Song and the Team Behind It

Stonebwoy appears on a track titled Wrong Toes, recorded alongside American vocalist Mashanda Faust and Atlanta-based music collective Hero The Band. The song was conceived by Alan Key, co-founder of Brisbane-based KeyScott Entertainment, who also co-wrote the track with Faten El Sayed. His business partner Kyle Scott then took charge of creative development, working closely with Faust to shape the song's final sound and presentation.

The Boyz Trip project is executive produced by both Key and Scott, and encompasses the feature film itself, its original soundtrack album, and a music video for Wrong Toes. That video was filmed at the prestigious Cape Town Film Studios in South Africa, under the direction of two-time award-winning creative director Warren Gray — making the collaboration a genuinely pan-African and transatlantic affair.

Wrong Toes blends Stonebwoy's signature fusion of Afrobeats, reggae and dancehall with American musical sensibilities, creating a sound that reflects creative input from Ghana, the United States and Australia. It forms part of a wider collection of original songs being developed for the Boyz Trip soundtrack through KeyScott Entertainment's newly established music division, which focuses on original film scores, music publishing, artist development and international collaborations.

Why It Matters for Ghana

Stonebwoy's placement on a Hollywood film soundtrack is more than a personal achievement — it signals the growing appetite among international film and music producers for authentic African sounds. For years, Ghanaian artists have competed on the global stage primarily through streaming platforms and live performances abroad. A major film soundtrack, however, offers a different kind of visibility: one that reaches cinema audiences across North America, Europe, Asia and beyond, often introducing listeners to an artist's sound in a context they might never have encountered through traditional music discovery.

Ghana's music industry has long punched above its weight relative to the country's size, producing internationally recognised names across highlife, Afrobeats, reggae and dancehall. Stonebwoy, a multiple BET Award nominee and winner, is among the most prominent of that generation of artists who have carried Ghanaian music to international audiences. His involvement in Boyz Trip adds another layer to that legacy.

The collaboration also reflects broader trends in the global entertainment industry, where African creatives are increasingly being brought into mainstream Hollywood and international productions — not as novelties, but as genuine contributors to the creative process. The fact that the music video was shot in South Africa further underscores how the African continent is positioning itself as a credible production destination for global content.

What Comes Next

With the film not expected to hit cinemas until 2027, there is still considerable time before Ghanaian audiences and the wider world see the full project. However, the release of the Wrong Toes music video — already filmed — could arrive much sooner, potentially giving the collaboration early momentum. KeyScott Entertainment's new music division is expected to continue developing original content around the Boyz Trip project in the months ahead.

For Stonebwoy's fanbase in Ghana and across the diaspora, this latest development will be seen as further confirmation that Ghanaian music continues to find its place on the world's biggest stages — this time, on the silver screen.
