Police nab two suspects in Western Region Agenda 111 Hospital equipment theft bid

Authorities in the Western Region have arrested two individuals accused of attempting to steal air conditioning units from the Agenda 111 Hospital at Bokoro in the Ahanta West Municipality. The suspects were apprehended while allegedly removing the cooling systems installed at the hospital, which remains unopened despite being commissioned.

The incident underscores growing concerns about the security of government infrastructure projects left incomplete and unoccupied for extended periods. Agenda 111 hospital still incomplete

The Bokoro hospital forms part of the Agenda 111 initiative launched in 2023 by the Nana Addo Danquah-led government to expand healthcare access across Ghana's districts and municipalities. Although the facility was commissioned before the previous administration exited office, it has not yet received patients, leaving the local community dependent on existing health centres that operate under considerable strain.

Minister of Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh recently visited the site and confirmed that substantial additional funding remains necessary to finalise construction work and complete equipment installation. The delays have left the hospital in a vulnerable state, with equipment and infrastructure exposed to theft and damage.
