Nanz Scripts Launches 'Joyride' Series: Accra's Streets Become Studio for Intimate Music-Driven Conversations
Ghanaian media personality and creative curator Nanz Scripts is set to revolutionise the interview format with the launch of "Joyride with Nanz," a new web series that transforms Accra's streets into an unconventional soundstage. The four-part debut season premieres on Sunday, 9th August at 6 pm on Northside Hub's YouTube channel, marking another ambitious creative venture from Scripts' media platform.
Unlike traditional talk shows confined to studios, "Joyride" takes viewers on actual drives through Accra's streets, where each episode features a guest who controls the music playlist—the aux cord—during the journey. Rather than adhering to rigid interview structures, Scripts uses the guest's song selections as the narrative spine, allowing memories and personal stories to emerge organically as familiar tracks play out.
The concept deliberately strips away the performative pressure often associated with music-focused interview shows. Scripts explained that the series centres on what music does to memory: when a forgotten song resurfaces, it can transport listeners back to specific moments in time. By building each episode around tracks that trigger personal memories for her guests, the hope is that viewers trace their own emotional and nostalgic connections alongside the conversation.
A Fresh Take on Entertainment Interviews
"Joyride with Nanz" represents Scripts' philosophy that substantive conversations don't require stiff, formal settings. She has built a reputation through Northside Hub—the media platform she founded to champion creatives across disciplines—for reimagining how entertainment journalism and creative dialogue can feel. The show's guests extend beyond musicians to include creatives from various fields, reflecting Scripts' commitment to exploring ideas across the creative ecosystem rather than limiting conversation to a single genre.
This latest offering complements an expanding slate of original programming under Northside Hub. Scripts' flagship show, "The Debut," was rebranded earlier this year to "The Debut: Can You Come To The Phone?" with a refined focus on musicians. A music game show titled "Pass The Aux, Pass The Plate" is scheduled for launch in the fourth quarter, suggesting Scripts is building a comprehensive creative content platform with distinct formats serving different audience interests.
Why It Matters for Ghana's Creative Scene
"Joyride with Nanz" arrives at a moment when Ghanaian content creators are experimenting with formats that reflect local creativity and authenticity. The series demonstrates how homegrown media entrepreneurs are competing with international content standards by innovating within their own cultural context—using Accra itself as a character in the storytelling rather than treating it as mere backdrop.
For Ghana's entertainment ecosystem, this signals growing investment in original digital content that prioritises substance over spectacle. Scripts' approach—where the conversation unfolds naturally rather than following predetermined talking points—aligns with audiences' evolving preferences for authentic, unscripted engagement with creatives. The format also creates opportunities for emerging and established musicians and artists to reach audiences through a different lens, potentially opening doors for collaborations and discovery.
The premiere episode drops 9th August on Northside Hub's YouTube channel. Viewers interested in following the series can track updates on Northside Hub's Instagram handle.
