Highway tragedy: Two killed, 14 rescued in Kpetoe-Sarakope collision

A serious road accident on the Accra-Aflao Highway has claimed two lives and left multiple others injured, prompting fresh warnings from safety officials about the dangers of reckless driving on Ghana's major transport routes.

The collision occurred on Saturday, 26 September 2026, along the Kpetoe–Sarakope stretch when a Hyundai H100 bus carrying 12 passengers collided with a Ford tractor transporting two occupants. Both vehicles were heading in the same direction towards Aflao when the incident happened.

Swift emergency response saves 14

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) demonstrated rapid response capabilities, with firefighters from the Kpetoe Fire Station arriving promptly to extract all 14 occupants from the wreckage. The rescued individuals were subsequently handed over to the National Ambulance Service and Ghana Police Service, who transported them to Ho Teaching Hospital for emergency treatment.

Hospital authorities later confirmed the deaths of two persons—one male and one female. The identities of the deceased and the extent of injuries suffered by survivors remain undisclosed in official reports.
