The Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) has firmly rejected public claims that its vessel monitoring system is not functioning effectively, asserting that it maintains continuous 24-hour surveillance of all vessels operating within Ghana's maritime waters.

The Authority's statement came in response to comments made by Dennis Miracles Aboagye during appearances on TV3's Daily Brief and Joy FM's Newsnite programmes on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in which he suggested the GMA's monitoring capabilities were inadequate and vessels were operating without proper oversight.
