Black Challenge appoints media chief ahead of 2026 World Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico

Ghana's National Paralympic Committee has named Theophilus Sampah as the official Media Officer for the Black Challenge squad heading to the 2026 World Amputee Football Federation World Cup in Mexico. The appointment positions Sampah to manage all media operations for Ghana's participation in the tournament, which will run from 13–22 November 2026 in San Juan de los Lagos.

Sampah, a Ghana Broadcasting Corporation professional who already serves as Media and Administrative Officer of the Ghana Amputee Football Association, will oversee media accreditation coordination, team press operations, official communications and all associated media protocols spanning the tournament's build-up, competition and aftermath phases. His role will include liaising with tournament organisers on accreditation requirements and serving as the critical link between Ghana's team management and international journalists seeking official information.

Ghana's track record in amputee football

The Black Challenge arrives in Mexico as continental champions with an impressive recent history. Ghana won the African amputee football championship in Tanzania in 2021 with a 3–2 victory over Liberia, then captured gold at the inaugural African Para Games in Accra in 2023 after defeating Morocco 2–1. The team reinforced its dominance by retaining the African title in Cairo in 2024, again beating Morocco 2–1—a win that simultaneously secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

The squad being prepared for Mexico comprises 20 provisional players, including three goalkeepers and 17 outfield players drawn from clubs and training programmes both in Ghana and Türkiye. The National Paralympic Committee announced this initial selection on 21 September for national camp preparations, with the final World Cup squad to be confirmed at a later date.
