Korle Klottey Schools Battle It Out in NCCE Constitution Quiz as Civic Week Reaches Its Climax

The Korle Klottey Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has brought its Constitution Week and Citizenship Week celebrations to a fitting close with a quiz competition that drew five basic schools into a spirited contest on Ghana's 1992 Constitution and civic values.

Liberty Avenue Two Basic School came out on top in the 2026 Constitution Quiz Competition, with All Saints Basic School finishing in second place. Adabraka Presbyterian Basic School and St. Barnabas Anglican Basic School shared third position, while Gray Memorial Basic School rounded off the field in fifth place.

Contestants were tested on a broad range of subjects, including Chapter 19 of the 1992 Constitution, the mandate of the NCCE itself, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy and sanitation — topics chosen to reflect both legal knowledge and social responsibility among young Ghanaians.

Speaking at the event, Korle Klottey Municipal NCCE Director Mr Jonathan E. Nii Adjiri Sackey described the quiz as the annual highlight of the Commission's civic education calendar. "The objective is to remind citizens that we have laws that govern our country through the 1992 Constitution, which we all need to uphold and defend," he said, adding that Citizenship Week deliberately targets pupils at the basic school level to instil responsible values from an early age.

This year's theme, "Digital Age: The Need to Uphold Discipline," prompted Mr Sackey to caution pupils about their conduct online, warning that the Constitution applies equally in digital spaces. "The Constitution is alive whether offline or online — children should be careful about what they share, because the internet neither forgets nor forgives," he said. He encouraged young people to harness digital tools for learning and personal growth rather than harmful activities.

Mr Sackey expressed gratitude to the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly, including Municipal Chief Executive Alfred K. Ato Gaisie and Coordinating Director Mr Emmanuel Baesi, for their support, and reaffirmed the NCCE's commitment to deepening constitutional awareness among Ghana's youth through sustained civic education efforts.
