Ghana to Host Major Investment Summit in November as GIPA Launches New Push for Productive Economy

Ghana is preparing to host its first Invest Ghana Summit in November, bringing together more than 2,000 international and domestic investors, diplomats, and business leaders to explore investment opportunities across the country's economy. The two-day event, scheduled for 16-17 November at the Kempinski Hotel in Gold Coast City, Accra, marks a significant push by the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) to position the nation as Africa's preferred investment destination.

Under the patronage of President John Dramani Mahama, the Summit will focus on the theme "Investing in Ghana's New Economy: Building a Productive Economy that Creates Value and Competes Globally." The initiative comes as Ghana navigates economic reforms, industrialisation efforts, and the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which has opened new regional market opportunities for investors and Ghanaian businesses.

Connecting Investors with Real Opportunities

The Summit is designed as more than a networking event—it will function as a practical matchmaking platform. Local and international project promoters will present investment opportunities identified through GIPA's Investment Opportunities Mapping Project (IOMP), while investors and financiers gain direct access to policymakers and regulators. A key feature will be structured follow-up engagements aimed at converting investment discussions into actual partnerships and projects.

The government's 24-Hour Economy agenda will also feature prominently, showcasing projects that leverage Ghana's regional advantage under the AfCFTA framework. This focus reflects a strategic shift toward productive investment that adds value to local resources, strengthens domestic enterprises, and creates sustainable employment.

Recognition for Excellence: The Ghana Club 100 Awards

Immediately following the Summit, GIPA will hold the 22nd Ghana Club 100 Awards on 18 November at The Palms Convention Centre. This flagship corporate awards programme, running since 1998, recognises Ghana's top-performing companies across various sectors for excellence, innovation, and contributions to economic development. The overwhelming response to the entry deadline signals strong private-sector commitment to competing and excelling despite a challenging global business environment.

GIPA's Chief Executive Officer Simon Madjie emphasised that both events reflect Ghana's approach to its approaching 70 years of independence. "As a nation, we must embrace a new investment drive centred on productive investment that builds industries, adds value to local resources, strengthens Ghanaian enterprises, expands exports and creates sustainable jobs," he stated at the media launch.

Why It Matters for Ghana

These events carry significant implications for Ghana's economic trajectory. The Summit positions Ghana competitively within Africa's investment landscape at a crucial moment—when AfCFTA implementation is still gaining momentum and global investors are evaluating alternative destinations. Success in attracting quality productive investment could accelerate industrialisation, job creation, and export-driven growth.

For Ghanaian businesses, the Summit offers rare direct access to financiers, technical partners, and foreign investors without travelling internationally. The Ghana Club 100 Awards, meanwhile, provide visibility and credibility to companies pursuing excellence, which can attract partnerships, talent, and further investment.

The events are supported by key government ministries including Foreign Affairs, Finance, and Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, alongside the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Ghana Free Zones Authority, and Bank of Ghana. Private sector partners include MTN Ghana, Guinness Ghana Limited, GB Foods, and others, reflecting broad stakeholder commitment to showcasing Ghana's potential.

With entries for the Ghana Club 100 closing on 23 October 2026, both events represent a concentrated effort to reshape Ghana's investment narrative—shifting focus from resource extraction toward value-added production and regional integration through AfCFTA.
