Former GOIL Chief Honoured for Decades of Church and Education Support in Volta Region

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ghana has bestowed special honour on Togbe Adza Nye IV, the Dutorfia of Ziavi Traditional Area and former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Oil Company, in recognition of his sustained philanthropic contributions to religious and educational development in the Volta Region.

During the church's 178th General Assembly, a high-level delegation led by the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt Rev Dr Lt Col Bliss Kofi Agbeko, visited Togbe Adza Nye's residence in Ziavi Dzogbe in the Ho Municipality to present a special citation scroll. The honour celebrates his significant role in strengthening church infrastructure and educational facilities across the Ziavi Traditional Area.

A Legacy of Support for Development

According to Rt Rev Agbeko, Togbe Adza Nye has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the E.P. Church's expansion and maintenance, including funding the re-roofing of the Ziavi Dzogbe E.P. Church chapel on three separate occasions. Beyond church buildings, he has channelled resources into basic school improvements, directly supporting the educational advancement of young people in his jurisdiction. His contributions have extended to the Methodist Church as well, illustrating a broad-based approach to community religious and social development.

The former GOIL boss framed his charitable work not as personal magnanimity but as a fundamental responsibility tied to his traditional leadership role. He emphasised that custodianship of the Ziavi Traditional Area inherently includes stewardship of community institutions, particularly the church, which he described as resting on the shoulders of traditional authorities. This perspective reflects a deep integration of chiefly duty with modern development priorities.
