Central Region NPP women back Kodua's re-election bid, pledge grassroots support

Women leaders of the New Patriotic Party across the Central Region have thrown their weight behind General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong's campaign for re-election, signalling strong grassroots backing ahead of the party's internal elections scheduled for 3rd October 2026.

The endorsement came during Kodua's campaign tour of the region on 25th August 2026, when he met with Constituency Women Executives from eight constituencies in Winneba, in the Effutu area. The women's coalition, represented by Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese Constituency Women's Organiser Cecilia Esi Arhin-Gyan, cited his administrative reforms, commitment to party strengthening and initiatives benefiting women members as reasons for their support.

"We are here to declare our support and endorsement for JFK because he has been honest and sincere in his service to the Party and to the women of our Party," the women stated. "We are beneficiaries of the reforms and structures he has put in place."

Building momentum across regions

Kodua's Central Region endorsement follows similar backing from women leaders in the Bono Region, indicating his campaign is gaining traction at grassroots level within the NPP. The Central Region women made a public commitment to mobilise support in their constituencies, pledging to ensure "a landslide victory in Kumasi on 3rd October."

The General Secretary's re-election campaign is anchored on three pillars: being "PREPARED, WELL-POSITIONED and FOCUSED" to rebuild the NPP and position it competitively for the 2028 general elections. Party officials view the internal elections as critical for regrouping following electoral setbacks.

The women also expressed confidence that retaining Kodua would enable sustained momentum on the party's rebuilding agenda whilst working alongside the party's flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, towards 2028.
